So I just had my scheduled c-section on Tuesday and baby girl is happy, healthy, and doing great but I just wanted to share what I thought was the best last minute item I packed - the haakaa pump. I really struggled with breastfeeding with my first daughter 2.5 years ago and was super relieved when baby girl had no problem latching right from the start when she was born on Tuesday. We had hoped to be discharged this morning but the pediatrician thought she had lost too much weight and wanted to keep her one more day to make sure she starts putting some back on and doesn’t lose anymore. He suggested supplementing with formula after each breastfeeding session in the meantime. I’ve been using the haakaa before each feeding in lieu of hand expressing to get the breast ready but it also looks like my milk came in today so I’ve been popping it on whatever boob she’s not nursing on. This last time I was able to collect an ounce and hope to use this instead of the formula at the next feeding! The haakaa is super cheap on amazon, I had it when I was breastfeeding my first and it’s already been a huge help this time around! Hope this helps someone else too!
