About a year ago we had a stray cat wander upon our house and my stepmom who claims she’s severely allergic to cat hair (which is why I couldn’t get a cat in the past) took a liking to him and we now feed him. He stays around our house and one day a female cat showed up and now stays around our house and is being fed as well. She ended up having a two liters of cats under our house! The first liter we believe died because we never saw them again after the first few days of discovering them. The second liter is new and lives in our garage. When she found them she cut up a storage box and moved them in it and placed it under the steps. The mom keeps moving them and my step mom is freaking out about these damn cats. I told her to leave them alone and let the mother take them wherever she wants. Well tonight the mom moved them again and left the runt behind, so she locked the babies in our office connected to the garage! She now wants to use my dogs cage to lock the babies up so the mom can’t move them. How do I explain to her that the babies are safer is we don’t touch them and let the mom care for them and move them where she feels they are the safest. In the end it’s not like we can keep and feed them and have 7 feral cats running around our house. I also keep telling her she needs to trap Oscar (the stray she decided to keep outside) and the female cat to get them fixed so we don’t keep having this issue. Our local shelter will fix trapped feral cats and return them to wherever they were found for free and her reasoning for not wanting to do that is because they will clip one of his ears🙄 she’s so annoying and doesn’t listen to anyone because she always thinks she’s right!
