So on Wednesday since my sons know how to swim I let them go in the pool in our yard they’re 10,8, and 6. I was watching of course. Especially with my 18 month old daughter learning to walk now I tell the boys to make sure they close the gate. I then made the mistake of leaving the house phone inside and it rang so I went to answer it and go back out with the phone then the gates open and I see her like two inches from the pool and I ran over and grabbed her. The boys claimed they didn’t see her but yet it’s an in-ground pool. I told them “She has Down syndrome so she doesn’t understand danger as much as a normal baby would, she barely knows how to swim without me or your stepfather holding onto her, she could of easily fell in and drowned.” I’ve learned for now onto to bring the phone with me out to the screened in deck. As much as it was there fault leaving the gate opened but mine too for leaving her for just 10 seconds.
