When to give nurses gifts?

Hi ladies! I was curious when you give the nurses their gifts? Right when you arrive? After delivery? Thanks!

As a nurse I can say this isn’t common practice so don’t feel like you have to give a gift if you’re reading this. I would only gift something if one of the staff members went above and beyond for me while there. 
A nice gesture would be bringing one of those “take 12” coffee boxes because nurses love caffeine. Or bring a box of muffins/cookies/donuts/baked treats/pizza for the staff room. We appreciate things we can eat or drink more than anything else but gifts are not expected.

I didn’t even know this was a thing! What would the choice of gift be? I think it’s a lovely idea

I’m going to wait until after I deliver and have one of my family members bring something up there for me. I do want to send my doctor a gift as well because she has been very good to me during my whole pregnancy.
