Anyone on medication for GD?

So I have been reporting my sugar levels to the doctor, and I got a call today saying they would like to put me on a medication called Metformin to help lower levels.
Anyone have any experience with this? I’m not looking forward to it at all. Wondering if any side effects?

I’m diabetic, I take metformin. When I first started taking it, it would upset my stomach, so it’s definitely recommended to take it with food. It really does help with controlling your blood sugars.

I didn’t feel well on Metformin either with my GD. I asked to be put on insulin at night instead and that’s been working.

Ughh metformin is awful for me! I had constant diarrhea, which then caused sores on my bottom, along with hemorrhoids, it was awful! Then after awhile my hair began to fall out!

I fortunately so far haven’t been placed on medication, but my husband asked during one of our earlier appointments. My OB said that the metformin pill is not as affective as insulin shots. Did they tell you which numbers they feel are out of range?
