I would probably feel upset too, but I don't think you have the status to actually call the lady or complain to your higher-ups about it. It's definitely a bummer. 🙁
Am I just being petty?
So, I’m doing an internship at a museum for the summer in exchange for college credit. I don’t get paid, and I drive 40 minutes each way, Monday through Friday. I’ve done a lot of awesome things, one being making a video advertising an event that is taking place tomorrow.
I spoke with the museum curator and put together a plan, designed the video specifically for what he asked, and went back and forth working on it with him until he said it was ready for their website/social media.
One of my more direct supervisors asked to see it, then said to change several things (change the way the information for the event looked, use her departments logo instead of the museum, etc). The previous guy I worked with moved across country, so I did all of the changes since she’s my supervisor.
The whole point of the video was for it to be used as an advertisement for the event tomorrow. I have waited all week to see it online, because I spent HOURS in the evenings and weekend working on it. I don’t even get credit for the hours spent at home on it, but I’m so busy during the day that there wasn’t really another option.
It’s the day before the event, and no one has posted the video. I asked my supervisor, and she said that the lady that controls the social media accounts said it was scheduled to be posted this afternoon. She said she wanted it to be posted earlier in the week, and doesn’t know why the social media woman didn’t post it before.
It’s almost 5 o’clock, and nothing. This is the type of stuff that I want to do for my career (public relations and videography), so I take it very seriously when I produce work. I recorded the entire thing myself, spent over a month working on it to be perfect, then changed it last week to meet their requirements, and now it’s not even posted. I just feel like I did all of this for free, and would like to see my work out there and see what the response is.
Am I justified in being upset or just petty? I have the social media lady’s number, but she isn’t very nice and has a bad and defensive attitude about people questioning her.

I get why you’re mad. At my college I major in Art & Design and I minor in Museum Studies so I know how LONG creative projects like this can take.If you REALLY want to contact her, just be polite about it and try to avoid coming across as hostile. You could just call and say “hey, I noticed that my video has not been posting yet and I was wondering if there has been a delay or if it’s going to be posted at a later date” Just remember that tone is everything.If for any reason your work isn’t posted by them, I suggest posting it to your own social media and make sure that your accounts are on public so people can share it. Also make it a point to post what the video was for, how long it took you to complete the product, and other information that’s related to the project.This situation sounds terrible but at least you’ll be able to put it on a resume.
