Lip tie?

Question

Going to ask pediatrician at his appt on Monday but wondering what y’all think? He nurses fine but he is pretty fussy 🙁
ALSO: if you’re little one has ever experienced one? did you get it fixed ? Did you not ? Was baby just fine with it .? Any info appreciated

My LO also has it and shes almost 3 and her dentist said it shouldn’t give her problems and if it does they just cut it 😳

Yes that’s lip tie my son has that he’s 16 months went to the Specialist to get it cut and he said as long as they are eating and drinking fine it’s not a problem but if it starts to cause problems with eating or even speaking I could go get it cut

My LO had a lip tie and a tongue tie. That picture looks like it could be a lip tie to me. My son had a hard time nursing in the hospital so the lactation consultant said to go to our pediatrician to have him “snip” the lip tie. (I didn’t know at this time that he also had a tongue tie) The pediatrician did so, and it didn’t help the nursing at all. 
Nursing was so frustrating and difficulty and exhausting for me because he wouldn’t latch, so I went and saw another lactation consultant (this is now the 4th one trying to help him latch) and she said to call this special dentist who lasers off tongue ties. We went and saw him and he said he said my son definitely had a lip tie and tongue tip and recommended to get it lasered off. He said the “snipping” doesn’t do anything because it just snips the front of the tie instead of getting it all the way at the base/bottom of the tie. We ended up doing the procedure that day, only took about 7-8 minutes. Of course my son cried the whole time, he was only 2 weeks old. The dentist said it doesn’t hurt them. Who knows if it does or not.
Unfortunately he had to relearn to use his tongue without the ties, and the dentist said it could take weeks or months for his to learn how to latch correctly. The nursing was so painful and frustrating for me that I eventually gave up and started exclusively pumping.
The really hard part was that we had to do tongue and lip “stretches” with him every 3 hours...even in the middle of the night...for 4 weeks. The first 3 weeks was every 3 hours, and the 4th week was every 6 if I remember correctly.
Ultimately it was a good decision because they said it can affect his speech and other factors (I can’t remember what they were lol) later down the line. So even though the stretches sucked and nursing ultimately didn’t work out, it was the right thing to do.
