Just because you’re “legally an adult” does not mean anything. You are still a teenager and he’s a grown adult.
I’m personally not someone who’s into age gap relationships and your case, you’re BARELY legal. In my opinion he’s a step above a predator and I don’t see why someone his age find a need to be with someone that young. There’s a reason that he can’t find find girls his age and your parents have the right to be upset.

When I was 17, a 29 year old man took interest in me. I remember being so flattered that an older man could be interested in me. But guess what? His intentions were never to be my boyfriend or build a life with me. He never cared about the things I told him or the conversations we shared. He wanted in my pants. That’s it. Nothing more. Thankfully, it never went that far. Listen to your parents and run. I found out years later this same man had slept with TWO of my (much older than me) friends! He also had a child he never told anyone about that he paid child support on but never saw or even met. This 33 year old man doesn’t have good intentions. Run. Run. Run.
