Do I have the right to be upset?

Question

My boyfriend is going away for six weeks for work, something that he volunteered to do.  I am happy that he is getting to do it, but I’m very upset.  I mean, it’s six weeks without him and I’m just worried and playing the worst case scenarios over and over...  I feel like a bad girlfriend friend cause I should be supporting him, but why did he have to choose to go??! 😭😭😭

Because it’ll look good in the long run and further his career. He wants a better life. Six weeks over the span of a life time is nothing.

Gurl, 6 weeks is NOTHING.
I get it, you probably just haven’t experienced “more difficult” yet, and so these feelings are very true and very raw. But breathe, everything will be okay. 6 weeks passes SO quickly. He probably took a great opportunity; it probably pays well; it probably helps with moving up in his job... but 6 weeks is nothing. 
6 weeks= military boot camp.
6 weeks= 1/9 of an army deployment
6 weeks= 1/18 of a missionary assignment
6 weeks is a month and a half. It’s not even 2 periods. It’s 6 date nights via FaceTime. It’s 6 weeks of facing new trials and growing stronger. It’s 6 weeks to better yourself; take the time to work out, read, volunteer, show him how GREAT you are. It’s 6 weeks of planning cute little gifts. And 6 weeks of appreciating every little bit about him.
I know you don’t feel it now just because you haven’t experienced it harder, but 6 weeks is nothing. Embrace this challenge, grow, and learn from it ❤️❤️❤️

Because he made the best decision for his life and job. 6 weeks really is not a long time. It's a month and a half.
Year 1 = I went out of state for 6 months with no planned visits. I let him know with a kiss while he is half asleep, I stopped on my way to the airport.
I've gone on 3-8 week trips randomly throughout the other years of the relationship. 
Build a strong relationship with trust and independence. You'll be happier.
