My doctor said babies can be ready to eat anytime between 4-6 months. She said as long as there is good neck control, she seems interested in the food and doesn’t just push everything out when you feed her, then she’s ready. We have started giving her rice cereal already and she loves it. Poor baby was crying last night because daddy was not sharing his pizza

I actually started with my own purée of fruits etc. But I’ll look into this. Doctors can only make recommendations when it comes to babies there’s no one size fits all. My daughter looks over at all the food we eat & reaches lol. She’s 5 months tmw & I’ve been exposing her to a few mushy things here & there.

We eat nuts and so does my dd1. We dont wash hands after eating and have touch dd2 many times with the powder on our hands. Our next step when she is older is do a little skin test with some peanut butter and see. We did this with dd1. Our doctor said if we had a history of any severe allergic reactions to certain foods we could do an appointment with her and give them that food to see how they react or do a prick. She also agrees with others about exposing foods earlier than the 3 year mark.

Out of curiosity, has anyone discussed this with their pediatricians about introducing allergens early? I can see both sides of either introducing early/waiting.  We haven’t had our 4 month appointment yet so I’m just curious what other pediatricians are saying 🙂

Where I live we dont have paediatricians for our baby just a normal doctor you take them to if they're sick so we don't get ok'd for when to introduce solids, so at 4 months I have introduced some baby food, we've done puréed carrots and he loves it and we also tried porridge but he wasn't too sure on that one yet, but he loves trying the food and I'm going to continue slowly introducing solids to him starting with veggies and then fruits

I think giving nut this early is too much. My doctor said that there can be a severe alergic reactions which a baby can not handle. Also honey can be dangerous so I wouldnt risk it and wait at least with these two till one year. For example in my case my parents did give me a lot of stuff they probably should have waited with and now I have severe stomach problems and can not eat milk products, nor eggs so I think in introducing food slower is better. But thats my personal experience.
