All I wanted was at least 1 week of maternity leave but my baby boy had other plans lol. All started Tuesday night with one really bad cramp and all of Wednesday I felt crampy. It felt like I was about to get my period. Went about the day and Wednesday night I was waking up to Braxton-Hicks contractions. They were sporadic so I tried to sleep. I had an ob appointment Thursday morning. I woke up and my mucous plug was starting to come out. I got to my appointment still having random contractions (felt like period cramps). My doctor checked me and I was 4cm dilated. She also did a membrane sweep and the rest of my plug came out with bloody show. She checked the baby’s heart rate and put me on the monitor (non stress test). After the doctor went over the test the nurse came in and said “the doctor said go to the hospital when you’re ready)! I was not ready lol.

I got to the hospital around 2pm with my boyfriends father and my boyfriend met us there. The hospital is closer to his job. I got admitted pretty quickly and from there everything started happening. They put the IVs in, they got me my epidural, which is amazing! And I was able to relax and rest up. I had a few visitors I was laboring which was nice and get me distracted. Then I went to sleep and around 1 o’clock they started me on Pitocin. That helped me dilate to a 7 and about 3am I got the urge to push. I started pushing at 3:30am and my baby boy was born at 4:26am.

He has a known heart condition so I was able to hold him for 30 seconds after he came out and then NICU took him and cleaned him. They did a couple checks and they let me hold him for another 30 seconds. Dad followed him to the nicu where they got his lines in and weighed and measured him.
