Has anyone taken Nitrofurantoin while pregnant ???

I’m taking Nitrofurantoin for an infection while pregnant but since I’ve started taking it I’m getting this weird pain in my lower abdominal like right where your bikini line is ... and it hasn’t gone away is this common or should I be alarmed ???

I think that’s macrobid. And yes it’s safe for pregnancy. They wouldn’t have given it to you if not.

It is perfectly safe to take during pregnancy. The only exception I am aware of is that you aren't supposed to take it at the end of the 3rd trimester. I don't remember the rationale for it. I'm prone to UTIs and get them fairly often so I took Macrobid a few times during pregnancy. My doctor always assured me it was totally safe till the end of the 3rd trimester and then I was told if I got a UTI not to use my Macrobid refill but to call my doctor for something else.

The pain may be totally unrelated to the medicine. Ask your doctor.

Yes it’s safe. I have taken it while pregnant as well. I actually just finished a round a few weeks ago (I’m now 12 weeks). I believe I took it with my first pregnancy as well.
