Do I have to wait exactly two weeks?

Question

Asking because Tuesday would be exactly two weeks since I’ve had sex and I took a test today and  it came up negative. 
My period isn’t due for 5 days.
Is it possible this is an accurate reading or should I still have hope of testing positive within the next 2-5 days. 
I’m just excited. This is my first time trying.

Test when you miss your period it’s about when you ovulated not exactly about when you had sex

I'd wait until missed period. The tests aren't as accurate before that.

It’s 2 weeks after you ovulate, not when you have sex. 
I got my positives at 10dpo with both pregnancies which was around 3 days before my period was due

Do you know when you ovulated? I tested positive 9 dpo. But some women don't test positive until 14 dpo.
