Fractured, broken wrists ????

I’ve had a Nasty fall where I landed on my hand and I have badly hurt my wrist. I have had 2 lots of x-rays and a CT scan,  The first x-ray was inconclusive due to lots of swelling. They think I have fractured my scaphoids and gave me a brace however I am still in a lot of pain. My question is for those of you who have broken or fractured your wrist can you kind of describe to me what it felt like and if you had any issues with ligaments tendons or muscle afterwards. I have been waiting over a week now for an answer on what they plan on doing and if they’re going to put it in the past or not and the pain is getting worse. Any stories you might have to share on broken bones I’d love to hear of the Internet isn’t really helping and doctors don’t have any helpful answers for me at this stage. Thank you

It's generally a long recovery of not using the arm for 6 weeks or so while keeping up on painkillers and elevating the arm.
They may plaster is once the swelling has gone down or may just keep it in a splint. Every Dr is different about treatment and depends on the severity of the break.
I'm guessing its a stable fracture that will just mend in time as you said nothing about surgery which is good.

I Personally don’t have experience but my dad fell of his truck one morning (hefty man) and broke his fall with his hand, and he got a compound fracture. 
I just remember going to Mexico (our main doctor is there and it’s cheaper) and he set it in place and put a cast on that ended before the elbow. 
BUT then my dad goes and kept using his arm for crap, and the fracture got worse and wasn’t healing due to him moving his arm so much so they did the cast up to his shoulder with a bent elbow.

Most fractures they will just give you a brace, painkillers and some general instructions and send you home. You just need to be careful for the first 3 weeks. Let it heal.

I broke my wrist on a four wheeler years ago. I had swelling so bad that I had to miss almost a week of school because if anyone bumped me I was going to have to get pins - there was a little tiny bone fragment floating around in there. I also had 2-3 inches of bone removed from the same wrist (unrelated to the break) and now have bone cement in its place. Neither recovery was super long. I didn’t do the PT like I should have the first time, make sure you do that. I do have some nerve Damage from the removal as well as some arthritis but it’s not unbearable just uncomfortable sometimes. 
Biggest advice I can give is do PT like you’re supposed to

I have broken my arm/wrist 3 times! I was a child though, so I don’t remember just a whole lot. Of course it hurts like crazy. I haven’t had any problems with muscle, tendon, or ligament damage. I had a plaster cast all 3 times, but when I broke my ankle, I only had a walking boot, even when I was on crutches and couldn’t put any pressure on it. The doctors said for the kind of break I had, a cast wouldn’t help it heal properly. That may be the same case with you. Perhaps the brace is more effective than a cast.
