Having a premature birth and/or NICU stay is something I'd never wish on my worse enemy. It is an emotional rollercoaster that no parent should ever be on.

IMO, the NICU isn't a place for any expecting family no matter the gestation.

My pregnancy ended rapidly at 25+1 weekson March 30th. We had a 86 NICU stay. A birth meant to be joyful and full of celebration turned in a traumatic event full of fear and sadness. We wasn't allowed to hold them or touch them. We didn't know if they would make it through the night. As their mother, I had to lay in my hospital bed denied access to seeing them for 24 hours because I had a cesarean. The four years of infertility to finally become pregnant and we joined the NICU journey through it.

This experience made me extremely grateful for everything they do at home. To hear their cries, hold them as much as I want, bottle fed, change their diapers, and just see them at home gives us such an overwhelming amount of gratitude for the people who saved their lives when there was nothing my body could do anymore. My heart is full. They came home June 24th.
