Went to a lactation consultant today because my 3 week olds latch has been so absolutely painful and his nursing sessions last for an hour plus. She said she isn't allowed to "diagnose" if he has a lip or tongue tie and that i have to talk to my pediatrician. She said there could possibly be something going on with his upper lip and it seems like he has a higher palate.

During the consult, we nursed for almost 2 hours and after being weighed before and after, he only took in 2 oz. So she said he is working too hard for his food and to offer him a bottle if a session goes on for 45 minutes or longer.

I obviously told my boyfriend and he's ADAMANT that I stop breastfeeding him and start exclusively pumping. The lactation consultant didn't even say that's what I should do. So is my boyfriend right? His next doctors visit isnt until the 5th. Im afraid he won't want my boob anymore if i start exclusively pumping. I do not want to bottle feed him at all but he's making me feel like i have to?
