Small side note this has been a debate with myself since I was... oh say even around 7. I am now 24. I want to start my sex change (FTM) and lately it has been on my mind more and more. I spoke with my bestie about it and he said he would support me but he also feels it’s just a phase. The only reason I haven’t done it yet is this exact sentence. It may be a phase. But when does the phase end? Plus I’m very short, 4’9”, and that kinda halted it as well. I guess I’m really just looking for advice, since tbh I don’t have a bomb support group around me.

So I live with two trans roommates (one FTM and one Non-binary) and I asked them about this exact thing. What they both said is that everything- except surgery- is reversible. You can cut your hair and decide it’s not for you. You can change your clothes and decide it’s not for you. You can change your name and decide it’s not for you (and even decide the first name you picked isn’t the one). You can bind (safely, using a binder) and decide it’s not for you. You can go on hormones and decide it’s not for you (if you stop taking hormones and haven’t had surgery, your body will go back to how it was before. This process takes a while but it is reversible). You can decide at any point that you aren’t happy with this and you can transition back. It’s your body and your life. You are 100% allowed to experiment with your gender, and you shouldn’t have to feel bad about it. EVEN IF IT IS A PHASE!!! You should be allowed to try new things and take risks. If it is for you, Hell Yeah! If not, Hell Yeah! Nothing is permanent and you have everything to gain by trying something new.

You have to do what’s best for you . If you feel in your heart that this is what you want then do it. I mean it is a life changing decision but you have to do what makes you happy.

I mean I thought me being non-binary was a phase for the past, like, 9 years or so 😂 so what if it’s a phase though? Start slow, figure things out, explore your identity, etc. etc. it’s totally cool to just work things out and not know what you’re doing 👍 no one does anyways :)))
