Would you name your baby your S/O’s name? Like “blank” JR?

Question

My boyfriend really wants the baby to be a JR. we don’t know the sex yet. We find out next week, but he said if it’s a girl I can pick the name and if it’s a boy, he wants to choose the name. 
I not totally against it, but it’s our first baby and I wanted something totally unique and different. Lol.

I'm just not a fan of "you get to name a girl I get to name a boy" at all. I feel like BOTH parents should like ALL their kids' names,  even if it's neither person's first choice.

Give your baby his own name! I have a friend named John and his dad is also John. To distinguish, they always called him “Johnny” which he hated. Finally he made them stop calling him that. Now his mom refers to him as “little John” to distinguish between him and his dad. Because seriously, how else do you (as the wife/mother especially) distinguish when you’re talking to them?
It’s a sweet sentiment, but let the kid have his own first name. Maybe make his middle name after daddy :)

My husband and I were both against having a Jr. So we just gave baby his middle name and a new first name.

I mean unless you want him a junior I wouldn’t go for it. You both should love them name girl or boy. Not cause he’s a boy he gets too name him 🙄🙄 me and my husband were totally against Jr cause we wanted him too have his own name. I was named after my mom and totally hate it.

I do want my son to be named after his father because I think it's adorable. However, most people find my husband's name hard to pronounce so instead we've come up with a name that's similar but easier to say

I would have loved to with our first, but my Father-in-law was a Jr. And absolutely hated it. My husband grew up seeing how much his dad hated being a Jr, and said he didn't ever want to do that to his own son. Now we are expecting our 4th boy, and he may end up sharing a middle name with my husband, but not a first name.

I always wanted to name my child. I prayed for a boy. However his Dad wanted a Junior so bad. It really means the world to him. I will not lie, it has been a big disagreement between us and I’ve literally cried about it, changed my mind about it, and it has taken a lonnngg time for me to come around to it. But he is such a good man, everything I would want our son to look up to, and I honestly feel like he deserves his Junior. I’ve come to love the idea of having his namesake. It was Not easy, think on it & you two decide TOGETHER. This is your child, you should have say so whether it’s a boy or girl. Best of luck❤️

Each boy in a new generation is named John. Instead of first name John we are having it as a middle name.

My husband is Randall (NN Randy) and my son is Randall Michael (no NN). He’s not a junior since my son has a middle name and my husband does not. My husband’s father was a Randall Lee. First name gets passed down but nobody has yet to be a jr.

we aren’t doing a junior because we don’t like JR,  BUT we are doing the second. no, we aren’t using it “correctly” - but this is the first boy in over 30 years on my husbands side so he really wanted to name him after him so i will honor it! so he will be the second
