What would you do? Read description!

Question

I've been in my current job for 7 years and I'm ready for something new. My current job only requires me to travel within the US about 5 days/year.
A job was posted within my company and I'm definitely qualified. It would be a promotion so more money and more of a challenge for me (which I want). However, it requires 35 days of travel/year throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, and Central America.
My baby is just about to turn a year old and I would be sad to spend that much time away from her. What would you do? Apply for the job or keep looking for something with less travel?

35 days is not that much in the grand scheme of things.

I wouldn’t do it, but we don’t have a support system locally - that could do 24 hour care and I can accomplish my goals without travel.
If you have help locally and taking this job would provide more opportunity for advancement, it might be worth it.

That’s such a personal decision!!
I’ve worked as a nanny, and in the grand scheme of things (like the other commenter said) it’s not that long.
I’ve nannied for parents who are away on work much more often than that, and they still have wonderful relationships with their children. In this day and age, it’s so easy to stay in contact while you’re away.
Like I said, though. That’s a very personal decision! It comes down to what you’re comfortable with and what you want your family life to look like 💗
