Is there anyone who actually waited to have sex for the first time with their SO until they were married?
I like the idea of waiting till marriage but I feel like it’s almost looked down upon? I feel like if I told a boyfriend this then they would leave me. I also feel like I’d be mocked for this and treated as the “Christian Girl”
Idk. It feels like the right thing to do but it’s also not the “normal” thing to do in the world today. Help?

I originally planned to but I changed my mind at 24. I felt purity culture was unhealthy and the reasons they gave us for waiting were shame-based and fear-based. There was also a superiority complex. If you want to wait then definitely do so but make sure it's for the right reasons. Also yes, your dating pool will be a lot smaller as most people aren't interested in going into something so important blindly

It’s very personal. My family is Mormon so they did. I did not. I think sexual incompatibility is a really big deal. But if your only hang up is being looked down on, then screw that. Do what makes you feel right.

I plan on waiting until marriage. I’m not going to even date someone who feels differently from me, let alone disrespects my decision. It’s important to my faith to honor what I feel like God has called me to, and it’s important that whoever I marry shares those same convictions. 
Make sure your decision is something you’re confident in, and that it’s your own conviction and decision. People, friends and boyfriends alike, will respect whatever decision you make as long as you stand firm in it.
