Did your epidural work?

So I had an epidural with my first and it helped me so much. I literally found the labour pain traumatizing and I NEVER want to feel it again even for one second. I’m pregnant with my second now and want to get the epidural like as soon as I get to the hospital before my body or brain has any time to recognize or remember the pain but I keep seeing posts that people’s epidurals didn’t work and I really didn’t know that this happened this frequently and it is freaking me right out. How often does this actually happen because I will actually jump out the window if mine doesn’t work lol

For me yesand no. It did what I wanted it to but I was up and waking less the 30 mintues after birth. I had mine at 8 1/2 cm with all 3 kids.i was able to feel every thing except extreme pain . I still feel some pain, my contractions the whole nine yards except extreme pain and to make things better I was up and moving on my own in under 30 minutes SoOo I am sure it’s a case by case thing and at what point you get the epidural.

Both of mine worked. With the second one it did only numb half of me, but the guy just wiggled it and magically my right side became numb too. I plan to get an epidural with my third but now I’m a bit worried because I had a car accident two years that messed my back up, so now I’m unsure about having this big ass needle shoved in my back.

My first birth my epidural worked so well! I just assumed my second would be the same... it didn’t take at all. I was in so much pain and they wouldn’t redo it bc the dr was on to other patients. I was so ticked- felt it all and had severe tearing. with this baby I am demanding it be redone if it doesn’t take. Don’t wait make sure you or your husband advocates for you!!

Most of the time they do. 3 out of my 4 deliveries my epidural worked wonders lol I felt the beginning contractions then got the epidural, was numb all the way to my chest lol and I slept until it was time to push. With my 4th? It did not work at all, I labored and birthed naturally. Let me tell you I pray it worked with my 5th so I don’t have to do that crap but my point is that it’s sucks but you can do it if it came down to it. 💪🏼💪🏼 definitely don’t stress because girl it will do no good !

I've had it 4 times. Twice it didn't work very well on one side. It took the edge off, but I could still feel the contractions a bit. But then they just laid me on that side to let the meds get into that side more. 
Also I spoke to the anesthesiologist because I heard stories of the woman going to push and the epidural didn't work or it ran out. He laughed and said that's because some OBs like to shut it off without telling you so you'll push faster.
