Opinions on mesh sides for bedsharing w/ 8 month old?

Is that like a giant adult crib?

We were told if we did co sleep (Our midwife knows people do this and accepted it) we had to remember a few things. She had to be in something like a lift, a nest or whatever. She had to have her own duvet or blanket if such is needed. And she has to stay in between us parents and NEVER at the edge.
We've followed these guidelines the few times we've seen it necessary to bring her to our bed.
How do you even install that and get in bed? And what if you have to pee at night?
Can't see the point of this thing at all 😅

I have one on one side of the bed for nap times. Otherwise munchkin sleeps in between us. I love it, but wouldn’t put it on all sides. That would make it impossible and uncomfortable to get out of bed.

Do you have a crawler if so, maybe it’s time for baby to sleep in own crib🤷🏽‍♀️ otherwise if you must I would leave one side out for you to get out of bed only and put baby on opposite end.

I’ve got a mesh bumper type thing to help stop my daughter from sticking her arms and legs through the bars of her crib.
The long and short of it is there isn’t currently enough research into mesh and “breathable” bumpers/protectors to be able to say if they are safe or not. 
But with those type of fall guards you need to make sure they are properly fitted and secure as like with everything in the baby world, if it’s loose it’s dangerous. 
My baby girl is 9.5 months old and is 90% of the time in bed with me. 
I’ve made my bed as safe as I can. Her crib is against one side of the bed, with a pool noodle between so she can’t fall in the gap. I sleep on the other side of her so she can’t roll out that side. 
I have a large wedge pillow at the end of the bed so she can’t crawl down the bed and fall out without knocking into that. There are no other blankets, pillows or douvets on the bed. We both sleep in pjs on a firm mattress with a tightly fitted sheet.  I have my douvet folded on the floor beside the bed as an additional protection in the event that she can ninja past me and fall out. Hasn’t happened yet. 
There is ALOT of information out there to help you follow safe sleep. You can get a crib set up as a co sleeping crib (with one side off) 
Breastfeeding mamas are considered safer when bedsharing. 
So long as you don’t smoke, are not a deep sleeper and generally don’t move much in your sleep you can take steps to make bed sharing as safe as possible. 
My husband cannot bed share as he sleeps very deeply, he rolls a lot in his sleep and he is a smoker. He simply would not be safe in a bed with baby.

I would hate my life if that was on my bed. Just put the baby in the middle if you insist on not following the guidelines for safe sleep 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would think it is safe because it’s kind of like a giant pack n play. But it’s a little much. I co sleep too sometimes and I can see why you would want this. It would help so much with naps when he wants to sleep in bed but I think doing this would be extreme.
