Reveal/shower question

So we are invited to a gender reveal For a close family member and it was mentioned that they wouldn’t mind if everyone brought diapers. (Aka bring diapers). Ok fine

BUT!

But they’re planning on a baby shower also if it’s the opposite gender of their first which we are expected to bring a gift to. I thought at gender reveals (unless combined with the actual shower) you don’t bring gifts.

I’m expecting my own baby three months before hers is due (in 54 days) and we are barely getting everything for ours and haven’t even started our own diaper stock pile yet.

I’m not trying to appear stingy but dang we are struggling with our own necessities for our baby and can’t afford double gifts!

What would you do? I don’t want to seem rude but we honestly can’t afford it. 😔
