What is your love language?

A coworker of mine was talking about this today and it got me thinking. What is the most important thing to you or what do you find yourself wanting more than anything from your significant other? Are their needs different than yours?

Mine top two are quality time and acts of service. My husband’s are words of affirmation and physical touch. After we took the test and realized this about each other we both just looked at each other and were like “OHHHH” and it just instantly led to better understanding of each other’s needs and how we differ!

People absolutely do not take into account how important it is to know what your love language is and what your partner’s is. A lot of people show love to their partner the way that they want it shown to them rather than how the partner may actually want or need. My language is a mix of acts of service and words of affirmation. I don’t need gifts, I don’t need all of your time, I just need to feel important and prioritized. My boyfriend is a mechanic, sometimes I will wake up in the morning to a note saying that he has taken my car to his shop to do XYZ work on it and that he will have it back before I have to leave for work. He knows how vital that car is to my job and he shows me that he loves and values me by doing things like that for me. If I tell him that I’m having a crappy day I will often come home to dinner already made, my pajamas laid out and a massage ready to go. This is my love language and he reads me perfectly. Thankfully his love language is just about identical to mine, so I know how to make him feel just as valued as he makes me feel. It is possible for two people with different love languages to be compatible, as long as there is a discussion about what each person wants and needs from the relationship.
I’m so happy to see someone post about this, it’s so important but so overlooked

Update because I don't know how to create an update on the original post:
I talked with my husband about these, and he told me acts of service was one of his, so I asked him what he wants me to do to help fulfill that for him. This was his response...
"You already do enough baby. That's why I love you. I didn't pick those cause it's something that you don't do. That's just what I like. You make me food. You do my laundry. You take care of the babies (our 2 crazy dogs) You already do enough lady, that's why I chose you to begin with." God I love this man 🥰🥰

See, even after 11 years together my husband and I are always using words of affirmation, physical touch and having quality time- almost every day. So what means the most to me are his acts of service. I end up doing most of the cleaning and cooking, and he will usually only do a chore if I ask him. So when he does something without me asking him to it really means a lot to me.
