Is a Buddhist still an atheist?

You can be a Buddhist while also being an atheist yes. Buddha is not represented as a god or deity, just a spiritual teacher. Some take Buddhism to be their "religion" but many others take it to be a way of living your life, while following or not following other religions. Or at least that's my understanding anyway. But I'm not a Buddhist 🤷🏼‍♀️

Depends! Buddhism isn't inherently theistic, and it doesn't even inherently require belief in supernatural stuff like reincarnation of whole souls and demons and stuff.
I picked up a habit from Stephen Batchelor of referring to what I do as "dharma practice" rather than Buddhism, because I'm using the tools Buddha and his philosophical descendants came up with and tested as ways to reduce human suffering. Those methods pay their rent. The ghost stuff isn't mandatory.

well that’s kinda weird to think about tbh. i would say no because generally you are thinking the buddha is the “higher power” whereas atheism doesn’t believe in any particular higher power.

If you are spiritual or believe you have a spirit or soul at all, you are not an atheist. You are an agnostic. An atheist doesn't believe in God because god is supernatural spirits and souls are supernatural. They are not real and dont exist. They are made up fictional ideas.
