If you don’t have a lot of effacement/dilation does that automatically mean your induction will last days ?

As of my last appointment last Wednesday I am 40% effaced and a 1.5 cm dilated, at my hospital everyone has the option to get induced at 39 weeks which I have chosen and will 100% be doing if my daughter hasnt come on her own by this Friday, I scheduled my induction with a different doctor bc my doctor was out at the time & my doctor called me trying to talk me out of it, saying my cervix isn’t favorable so it will take days, is that automatically true ? 40% sounds good to me almost halfway there..A friend of mine told me she had 20% effacement and 1 cm and her induction was only 10 hours, out of all the doctors at my OB office mine is known for trying to push for everything to be natural which I never would’ve chosen her if I knew that, but will my induction automatically take days ???

With both my kids, my cervix was about the same as yours and the inductions took 13 hours (41 weeks) and 15 hours (37+3).

Mine was unfavourable no dilation at all, had two doses of pessary and it was 3 days then water was broken and had baby in 4 hours. Went in on Friday and had baby on Tuesday 😑 .

This was with my second pregnancy, so I’m not sure if it makes a difference or not.  But I had to be induced because of hypertension at 36 weeks 6 months ago.  I was not dilated at all and my cervix was high and closed when I went in.  I think what they’re saying about the cervix not being favorable is that they will have to use something for that.  I had to have cervadil inserted for 12 hours to soften my cervix before they started pitocin for me.  That was a long process sure, but it was through the night so I got to sleep.  They started my pitocin at 7am and my baby girl was here by 12pm.  I will just add, that even though my OB does 39 week elective inductions also, he does admit that c sections are more likely in induction cases.  I can’t remember the exact questions I asked at the beginning of my pregnancy because unfortunately my induction turned into a slight emergency earlier than we planned.  Hope this info helps a little!
