Student / professor relationships?

Is it appropriate to have a genuine romantic / sexual relationship with a professor? 
Probably isn’t professional but is it ok? Both are legal consenting adults

I think it’s highly unprofessional and somewhat inappropriate. The teacher has power and can easily manipulate their student.

If the student isn't taking the professor's class then I mean it's not great but it's not going to affect any grades or anything. If they are then nope- too much room for blackmail/ manipulation.

Not okay if you’re enrolled in their course or if they’re the dean of your college. Basically, if they’re in any position that holds power over you and your successful, unprofessional and not okay.

It’s unprofessional and not okay. The professor is in a position of power over the student. If you’re meant to be a in a relationship then you can wait until the class is over.

Most schools would have a policy in their code of conduct. In my opinion it is inappropriate because it is an unbalanced amount of power in the relationship. Assuming that it is ‘allowed’ by the school’s code of conduct, I still think it is very unprofessional

Many colleges and universities have policies against student/professor relationships. It’s unprofessional on the professors party, and although you’re both consenting adults it may lead to issues at the professors place of work.

Shit I clicked on the wrong one. Unprofessional and not okay while you are taking their classes. It's one thing if you're already married and one of you is professor and the other student (sometimes it can't be avoided) but the other students should not be able to "pick up" on the fact that you are together. Preferably you are completely out of school before pursuing a relationship with a professor that you met as a student.
