Breast Pump @ Hosptial?

Question

I’m planning on breastfeeding my little guy. I did with my first (6 years old now!) but only for 6 weeks. I know pumping after a feeding is supposed to help build your supply but I wouldn’t need to bring my pump with the the hospital? Since my supply probably won’t come in before I leave or should I bring it?

They should provide you with one while you are there. They did with me and then I used mine once we were released from the hospital.

Leave it at home. Hospitals have portable pumps there if you’d need one. But babies tummy is so so small right after birth they don’t need much. Your colostrum will be enough. I had to pump at the hospital but only when he wouldn’t latch and I’d be so so little bit of colostrum to it’s go in a syringe and I’d feed baby by my fingers with a feeding tube attached to my finger for him to understand the sucking reflex

My hospital provided a pump even though I was only producing colostrum. They said it was good to pump after feeding anyway to get your milk started. I’m personally bringing my own, even if I don’t use it I’d like to have it with me

I'm buying the lanisoh hand pump so I'll bring that but leave my spectra at home. I'm sure they would also supply one if you really needed or asked!
