Was your husband/ partner there when you heard your babies heartbeat for the first time?

I saw my GP today for a separate issue and he did a check up while I was there as I haven't had my first US yet. To my surprise he looked for a heartbeat with a doppler. It was great to hear something at last but I was quite upset that my husband wasn't there! Am I the only one? Am I being silly?

My husband is military so didn’t attend any of my midwife appointments - just the scans and consultant appointments. 
At 16 week my midwife did the first heartbeat check and I told her that I was disappointed that my husband wasn’t there to hear it. She was ever so nice and told me I could record it on my phone (which was dead so she went out of her way to find me a charger!). Husband appreciated it so much!! I can understand why you’d be feeling a little upset but there will be lots of other times for him to hear it :)

I didn’t take my boyfriend to my first appointment because I was worried about having another miscarriage and if anything anything was wrong I wanted to cry alone. And figure out how to tell him . My next appointment is August 17 since he works construction . So it depends on the weather if he can go or not but we are thinking of doing a private ultrasound because they do walking and there only 50$ depending where you live ..

I have my first appointment on Thursday. I work for a gynecologist and she offered to do an ultrasound on the DL after we see patients on Wednesday. I so badly want to do it but I know it would really bum my husband out not being there for the first time. Once we go on Thursday, I’ll be taking full advantage of my ultrasound machine access.

He went with me for the first baby, but that’s because he didn’t have a job at the time. This time around I went by myself and he worked🤷🏼‍♀️ it didn’t hurt his feelings or mine, there’s plenty of appointments afterwards he can come to. He’s a heavy equipment operator so he gets days off when it rains so he was able to make it to my 12 week appointment. After your first baby I feel it’s not really a big deal.

I dont think you're being silly, however I wouldn't get yourself all upset about it! Mine wasnt at my first ultrasound, but we own a business together and its just the two of us there so he had to work. We have one next Friday for gender and hes coming to that one, and to me it will be just as special as if he would have been at the first :)
