Room sharing??

Hey y’all! Okay I’ve put a lot of thought into this over the past few months and I’m still torn as to what we should do! We currently have a 10 month old son (he’ll be 1 in September) and I am due with baby boy #2 in December. 
I can’t decide if the boys should share a room or live separately? Our first slept in our room until he was 2 months then he moved into the nursery.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Thoughts? Concerns?

My only concern would be that when the baby wakes up and cries then it will wake up the 1yo and then you’ll have 2 screaming babies 😰

I wouldn’t room share until the baby is older and not waking through the night. You’ll condition the 1 year old to waking up during the night and have a bigger problem on your hands.

I wouldn’t room share until both are sleeping complete through the night. We are going to have our sons in separate rooms, we have the space and want them to have their own space when they get older.

I have 4 kids, 2 boys who are 21 months apart and 2 girls also 21 months apart. 
Baby stayed in our room until they were mostly sleeping through the night, then moved in with the big brother/sister.
My 2nd son actually wasn't sleeping through the night because he was so attached to me that even if I got up in the night to pee, he'd wake right up wanting mommy. He was like 8 or 9 months and I didn't know what to do. I consulted a sleep trainer who helped me so soothing and gentle cry it out in his brother's room. I had my doubts, but within 2 nights or so he was sleeping through the night. 
My 4th daughter moved in with her sister probably around 5 months.

I personally didn't like to move them together until the younger one was in a toddler bed. I was afraid that the older one would try to climb into the crib and get hurt or something when I was sleeping. But with our youngest, we REALLY needed our bedroom back for sanity, but he was still in a crib. So we moved his crib into the living room, set up a corner just for him, and that became his sleep space until he was big enough to move into a bedroom with his toddler bed. It worked for us.

I’d keep the baby with you until 5 months, then move him to his own room. I’d also transition your 10 month old to his room before baby comes. In my experience with my kids, keeping them in two rooms was a lot easier but if they have to share I’d say it’s easier if they’re at least 2years old and the younger baby is more or less Sleeping through the night. But everyone’s kids are different 🙂

My kids are two weeks shy of 2 years apart. I kept the baby in my room until 6 months. Sleep trained her at 5 months and made sure she was mostly sleeping through the night before I moved her in with big brother. They are now 3 and 14 months and love sharing a room!

I have a 2.5yo and a 2 month old. Currently the baby is in my room and theoretically the toddler should be in his own room but most nights he stays in our bed because he feels left out. So my toddler is used to the baby fussing around at night, he generally sleeps through it. When I move baby out of my room (hoping he stays at least 6 months) he’ll be sharing a room with his big brother. I enjoyed sharing rooms with my siblings and I always wanted my own kids to share a room.

Thank you ladies! My biggest concern with room sharing is if the new baby wakes the oldest in the middle of the night with crying...I still get up a few times a night with #1 to give him his pacifier but other than that he sleeps pretty good. I don’t think I’ll put them in a room together until baby #2 is mostly sleeping through the night 🤔

Yeah I have a two year old & an 11 month old. When the 11 month old started sleeping through the night I put her in the room w/ her sister. & if the baby does cry my oldest just goes back to sleep: (they sleep in the dark w/ no tv or anything so they fall back asleep quickly.
