Wedding Band/Ring?

My Fiance and I were discussing wedding bands for our wedding next October when he mentioned that he did not want to wear a wedding band. He said he'd rather wear something more practical, like a watch. At first, I was upset. What's wrong with wearing his like I will wear my engagement ring and band. Then as I thought about it, it really isn't my place to tell him what he can and can't wear. If he doesn't want to wear it, then so be it. I trust him. A ring shouldn't matter when you love and trust your partner.

What are your opinions on this? Would you make your SO wear one? What's a good option instead of a ring?
