I know low progesterone levels during early pregnancy can cause breakthrough bleeding and possible miscarriage, but has anyone been told by their doc that their low progesterone levels could be making conception difficult?

I was found w low progesterone levels prior to both my previous (successful) pregnancies and prescribed a 10% progesterone level topical cream to apply daily after ovulating, prior to both conceptions... I am at a new obgyn now who basically laughed and told me progesterone will not help me get pregnant, and says he does not and will not prescribe progesterone until I get pregnant and only if my levels are found to be low at that point.

I am so frustrated. We’ve been trying to conceive for nearly a year for our third and I can’t help but think my levels are likely low again and at least contributing to the problem we’re having conceiving? Were both my previous doctors bogus in prescribing this cream to me? Was it placebo only? Would LOVE to hear from anyone on progesterone cream for conception...
