So... We are in the process of breaking up. We live in my house but we bought a few things together. Since it's already here we decided I would keep them. The items are a couch (~$400 Jan 2019), a washer (~$400 Nov 2018), and a dining room table (~$300 Jun 2017).

The prices are estimated for this post, but we have receipts for us to look at... But my question is... Do we split this evenly as in, I give him half the cost of each thing back as if I'm buying it off him? Do we consider current value and usage? I mean he and his son utilized these things, the are no longer brand new. If we sold them and split the money we wouldn't be getting that much today... Thoughts? Never did this before. But he's expecting money from me so I gotta pay the man up!

Should I mention when he moved in my place he put his place for rent and made a profit for over 2 hrs thanks to moving in with me? He only paid bills here no mortgage... These are the only items he contributed too, besides the mattress on the bed which he will be taking with him... everything else was here provided by me. Not sure if that makes a difference...
