How does one know if they had a missed miscarriage?

I had one and you don't know until an ultrasound. I was supposed to be 10/11 weeks but at out first ultrasound we found that it had stopped growing around 6 weeks and had no heartbeat. However, I did not bleed, have horrible cramps, and had all my same pregnancy symptoms. We waited another 3-4 weeks and still had nothing happening so (bleeding or progression in development) we had to do a d&c

Answer

They would go to an ultrasound and not see a heart beat when they saw one before. Or if it’s first ultrasound at 8-12 weeks & no HB they have to go back and see if there is one again. I was 16 weeks baby passed at 13.
