Does every doctor check if your dilated?

I had some problems with GD and the baby stopped growing with my first. I had to do the non stress tests a lot but I dont remember the doctor ever checking if I was dilated or effaced. Is that a normal thing? At how many weeks do they start checking for that?

I’m 37 weeks and haven’t been checked. They asked at my last appointment if I’d like to be and we didn’t end up doing it.
Last time I was pregnant they’d asked once or twice and I’d say “sure” but I don’t feel it’s necessary. There’s slight risk of infection doing it, and it literally tells you nothing about whether or not you’ll go into labor other than maybe the possible efficacy of an induction, which I believe is called the bishop score but I’d double check that part if I were you.

My midwife told me that I could be checked every week if I asked, but she usually starts at 38 weeks.

I have GD and yesterday, my midwife told me she will do my first cervix check and membrane sweep next Tuesday ( will be 37+4 )

I have GD as well. Doctor started doing checks at 36 weeks. I haven’t needed to do the NST though.
