Baby won’t take my expressed milk-update!!

So I am embarrassed to say this is my third child and the 3rd time this has happened- clearly I was in denial with my first two.

Baby would take a bottle of my milk just fine from 2w-10w old, then one day, just refuse it. We tried everything- extra warm temp, my husband feeding it to him, me leaving the house for hours, etc. I finally tasted it and it was awful. Metal, soapy tasting that had me dry heaving in the sink. Bag after bag of my freezer stash tasted just as bad.

It turns out i have high levels of liapse enzyme in my milk, causing it to taste bad after a period of time. I finally taste tested it every few hours today and found that it turns st the 17-18h mark (in the fridge). Freezing before then does not help.

The only way to stop it from turning is to scald it on the stove or bottle warmer to 180° before freezing it.

I wanted to share this for any new BF moms who are about to go back to work ( or ready for some adult time out of the house!) and having a hard time with baby taking bottle! Look up “lipase enzyme in breastmilk,” for more info!
