How long do you have to wait to get up and move around after giving birth?

Just curious how long it’ll be until I can brush my teeth, shower, or wash my face and stuff

Depends... even with having an epidural and major complications I was up and in the shower within 2-3 hours after giving birth. We did our golden hour and then got transferred to our room. Once we got settled and I got some food I got up and started moving around without any issues.

Didn’t have an epidural and delivered at 230 in the morning, I could’ve gotten up right then but we did an hour of skin to skin and practiced breastfeeding. Within a few hours of delivering I was walking around and took a shower

I had two uncomplicated vaginal deliveries both with epidurals.  I feel like I was up at about an hour to use the bathroom before moving to the recovery room both time.  Both kids were born just shy of midnight so we spent most the rest of the night in bed but I was definitely moving around the next morning.

I had a normal vaginal delivery and was up to shower a couple of hours after delivery. I felt quite exhausted so waited longer than I was ‘allowed’ to.

In my hospital it’s once you feel ready. The first time they make you call the nurse (to prevent fall risks) then after that it’s fair game. I’m usually up within a few hours to clean up and try to pee

I had an uncomplicated, unmedicated birth and I was up and moving maybe after a cpl hours - my partner and I both did an hour of skin to skin. And they wanted me to pee before taking the iv out of my hand. Showered after that. I think it’s different for everyone, depending how they’re labor went  :)

I never had pain meds so I was up and about right away.  Delivered the placenta, nursed, then showered right after with my second.

As soon as you feel ready to. You’re going to have to get up to pee anyways, brush your teeth then. I think my husband helped me shower the next morning, but that’s because I gave birth in the evening and had no energy to shower that day.
