How much time off should dad take when baby is born?

My husband has the option to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave when our baby arrives (but we totally can not afford to have him do that lol). He’s also allowed to take his vacation days of course which will be between 1 and 2 weeks I believe.

Is that going to be enough time though? How much time off do you think he should take..... keeping in mind it’ll be unpaid after the first week or two, and that I’ll be on paid maternity leave for 6 weeks (but I also have the option to take an additional 6 unpaid).
