Breastfeeding rights at work?

Can anyone give me information about our rights as breastfeeding mommas who work? I am about to return to work at 7 months PP. I am a teacher and have been off since Jan. I can deff pump during my 30 min lunch, but is that enough? Do I need to ask for more time or another period to do so? I don’t want my supply to drop. He still feeds every 3 hours or so. Thanks :)

To keep your supply up you would have to pump every 3 hours as if you are feeding him.

Where do you live? Check out your state and city laws. I know in nyc we have pretty strong lactation laws via the nyc office of human rights.

PA state law requires a workplace with greater than 50 employees to be able to express their milk in a reasonable amount of time in a place that is not a bathroom and free from intrusions as often as the mother needs to express. I think In an 8 hour time frame 2-3 sessions is appropriate and absolutely reasonable. There are some resources online with the state so double check me! 😁😁

Two things. If you are covered by fmla, you are covered under federal law which states that you must be given a private place to pump and as many breaks as you need (which would be more than one, as a teacher I do two and feed right before u leave and right when I get home). Secondly, I don’t know how supportive your administration is so be prepared with a plan that you want and suggestions for how to make it happen.
