How much to spend on a bridal shower gift?

The shower is for a friend of my husband. Well the guys soon to be wife lol we aren’t close and don’t see each other often. I was thinking $50?

For use family I spend 100 or more. For a close friend around 50. For a friend 20-50. We lways give cash for a wedding so figure that is always the bigger gift. I have a shower Saturday for my 3rd cousins daughter in law (lol yes big family) I don't  know her but her mother in law and my mom are extremely close and she has always been super generous with me. So I also factor in those relationships too. So I spent about $60 on her shower gift. And will give around $50 for their wedding.

$50 is good. I typically give $100 - $150 depending on level of friendship. If I didn't really have a relationship I would do $50. We typically give $100 cash at the wedding too.

Usually I say the price of what it cost for your plate and such. I’d say 50 is fair, especially if you don’t know them well.
