Proud of ourselves, birthday gifts

Erica

We were going to have a big 2 year old birthday then we found out we are having twins (so excited). This make our budget pretty tight because childcare costs are more than our mortgage where we live. We decided not to have a 2 year birthday party. We're still making him a cake and we both took the morning off to take him to the fancy aquarium which he will love.

When it came to birthday gifts we told the grandparents to buy some practical things like PJs and toddler plates.

We went to a bunch of kids consignment sales and garage sales. We sat down and sanitized and cleaned it all and everything looks good as new. Our son is really into sesame street right now so we bought him a tickle me Elmo and a bunch of sesame street toys.

Everything you see in the pictures (except the red chair that somehow made it in the pic) cost us a grand total of $37 and most of that cost comes from the brand new tickle me Elmo. We're excited to give him all of these gifts next week when we thought we couldn't afford it.

I'm proud of my husband and I and think he'll still have a memorable and fun birthday, even on a tight budget. 🙂
