6 weeks old choking
My 6 week old chokes all the time. I have an overactive letdown so I nurse while reclined. I will also take him off after letdown and then put him back on after a few minutes. Nothing seems to help. He chokes while eating at nearly every feed and chokes on average twice during each feed. He also will choke on his spit up. He has reflux and is on Zantac, I sit him up for about 20 minutes after each feed. He will usually spit up large quantities, but it’s the small spit ups that choke him. I have previously told the pediatrician about all of this and they keep saying it’s normal. I thought after he got a little older and a little bigger it would stop or at least not happen as much but I feel like it has just gotten worse. This can’t be normal!!??? Has anyone experienced this? My first son had some choking episodes here and there but nothing like this! I’m a nurse and work with babies so I know what to do when he chokes but I am terrified one of these times he is not going to recover.
