Carseat question: Are your LO's reverse facing still or forward facing now?

My pediatrician asked and said it would be better if we forward faced my LO because of his size. He is very tall/thick for his age. He does complain and whine sometimes but then other days he is completely fine in his Carseat. Unsure of what to do since he hasn't hit the max weight for the Carseat reverse facing and I was hoping to keep him like that until he hits the max.

Shows just that not all pediatricians know what’s best. People fail to realize just how uninformed they actually are. I will be rear facing my son AT LEAST until he’s 2, and he’s pretty tall for his age.

Check your local laws. Most places now they have to be two or out grow the limits of rear facing to be legal to front face.

Its best practice to rear face as long as possible. Check out "car seats for the littles" it's a page on facebook. There are trained people who can help you find a comfortable way to rear face longer. Their bones arent fully developed yet. And pediatricians are not trained in car seat safety. My son is 18months- hes 37inches and 26lbs. Still rearfacing. And he will be untill at least 2(thats when their bones start fosilizing(becoming harder to break). Also its law where i live) forward facing under 3 years old if in an accident could break their neck(babies/young kids necks arent meant to stretch very far so they xan become decapitated) the page i mentioned above people have their 6year olds still rear facing. That being said you could possibly unknowingly have your child in their seat wrong or have the seat installed wrong. Also note that laws arent always up to date. I really recomend the page above though. They help so many people!

My 3 year old (40lbs and at least 38 inches tall) is still rear facing as is my 18 month old (24 lbs and 30 inches). I don’t plan to turn my oldest around until he gets to 50lbs or turns 5 whichever comes first. It’s safest to be rear facing for as long as possible and in many states the law requires rear facing until age 2.

My little one hit the legal weight and height to flip him forward so we did! He loves being able to see everything, and always says "I A BIG KID!" when I buckle him in ❤

My son is 1 yr and 8 months now and facing rear. We won't have him facing front till he is two yrs old. Just to be safe

My son is pretty tall for 19 months, and we got a carseat that extends while rearfacing to give more leg room. The Graco Extend 2 Fit has worked well for us, maybe look into getting one that extends so you can rearface longer.

My carseat say 41 inches or 41 pounds. To rear face, after one of those can be considered danger, after that you'd need an extended fit car seat. I'm just going to forward face. Also ca law says the same or when they turn 2, but moms choose to follow the car seat. My son is 35 inches and as soon as hes 41 inches he will turn around.
