My overdue baby ❤
I was 41 weeks when I finally gave birth to my beautiful little girl 7/25/19. My contractions started on Tuesday 7/23/19 around 4 am and when I saw my midwife that day she had told me that I was 3 cm and 70 % effaced. We schedule my induction date for Thursday 7/25/19 but she was most certain that I wouldn't need to be induced cause my body was in the beginning stages of labor.
Tuesday night my contractions got a little bit more intense but Wednesday they lighten up. I did start losing my mucus plug during the day. My contractions had stayed 5-8 mins apart and I was sent home Tuesday night because they spaced out and I wasn't dilating. Wedsneday night I slept for about 4 hours and then around 12 am Thursday morning, back labor started and I was bleeding the whole night (I was losing the rest of my plug) . When I say it was miserable, it was miserable. I could barely sit through them. But I held through the morning til I had to go in.
Around 6:30 am I had to call to make sure they had a room open for me, I found out that I wasn't on the list to be induced. I freaked out but I told myself either way I was going in because I wasn't dealing with the back pain anymore. Then the charged nurse called me at 7 am told me to go ahead and come in and that I was probably already in labor. I head to the hospital, arrived around 7:15 am, my fiance had to put me in a wheel chair it was too bad for me to walk. I go to check in and at this point the pain was unbearable in my back, they took my id and insurance card and then wheeled me back to my room. I get settle in and they place my bracelet on, my fiance and his grandmother come in the room (they had to get badges) The midwife comes in after them and she checks me. She then tells me there was no need to induce me, I was 6 cm dilated and in active labor.
I was shocked but also amazed. The previous week I was sad thinking my body wouldn't do it on its own. So this to me was an accomplishment. I signed all my paper work and then they gave me a pain reliever through my iv. They told me it would help me sleep and take the edge off but I would still feel my contractions and it would wear off in 3 hrs. I actually slept through my contractions lol
They woke me up around 11 am and asked me if I was ready for my epidural. I was quick to say yes lol. I was very scared but I actually didn't feel my epidural which was great. It felt really good to be able to sleep and feel comfortable. My water broke on its own like 30 mins after getting the epidural. I was a little panicky at that moment because my mom and aunt was suppose to show up to be there ( they eventually did). When they showed up, I felt calm and at ease. I couldn't believe we were going to be meeting our baby soon. Around 3 pm I started feeling pressure. I thought I was pooping myself lol I kept asking the nurses to make sure that I wasn't and they told me I wasn't. But it felt that way.
The midwife came in and told me that I needed to relax my body and let my baby move down more (this way I wouldnt spend hours pushing) and when her heartbeat was a certain way thats when I could push. Then around 4:20 ish I called my nurses in and told them I really needed to push. They then told everyone that whoever was going to stay stay and whoever wasnt go ahead and step out. They look down there and then left and came back with the midwife. I was laying on my side and the midwife checked then told me to give her a good push. So I did. And thats when the baby nurses came in and they adjust me on my back and told my fiance and my mom to hold my legs.
It took 4 pushes and under 10 mins and she was out. I heard her cry and immediately started crying, I was so happy that she was here. She was born 7lbs 3 oz at 4:42 pm on 7/25/19. The best day of my life and my fiances of course. I would redo it all over again just for her. I'm so in love with her. ❤
