Did I do the right thing?

So last week my ex sent me a message through POF. That’s the only way he can message me since I have him blocked from calling me or texting me. I also have him blocked on Facebook. When we broke up over a couple of years ago it was mutual and we even managed to stay friends afterwards. It changed when I started seeing someone else. My ex would start to pick fights with me. Blame me for problems in our relationship. I’m the first to admit I wasn’t perfect but neither was he. After that I decided it was best to block my ex. When things didn’t work out with the guy I was seeing, I still left my ex blocked because I knew there was a good chance we would start fighting again. So the only way he can message me is through POF. He has a habit of creating profiles, deleting them and then creating new ones, so I would never really block him there because I thought it was pointless. So he created a new profile a couple of months ago but didn’t message me. I thought he gave up. That was until last week. These are the messages:

I didn’t reply back when he asked why not. I felt I already explained myself. The next day he messages ‘hi how are you.’ Then the day after that he just sent hi. I started to think the best thing to do was to block him, which I did. But I’m still wondering if that was the right thing. So far he still has the same profile up and hasn’t created a new one.
