hey ladies, it may be an easy answer, but it's been puzzling me for a while.
If Jesus was a Jew, why are we, Christians, not Jews instead?
We are called to be like Jesus, so why is there such a distinction between Jewish/Christians?

When Christ came, the Jews rejected him as the Messiah. Jew is both an ethnicity and a religion. So the religion itself rejects Christ. When a Jew becomes a Christian and affirms Christ as a Messiah, they remain a Jew as ethnicity (obviously, you can't change that), but are called Messianic Jews. It's sad when you think about it because His own people rejected Him and part of being a Jew means you don't believe He is the Messiah.

Jews don’t believe that Jesus is the son of God and our saviour. Christians Believe that Jesus came to atone for the sins of man.

If you remember in the New Testament after Jesus death and resurrection the disciples and apostles of Christ was instructed to go out into all the world to preach to all that whosoever believes nay be saved. Even Paul said whether you be Jew or Greek it makes no difference. All that matters is that you have a relationship with Christ. When the bible says to be like Christ it means in heart wise. For example: Love people, help people who are need,  heal people, pray for people and more importantly obey the heavenly Father. So your ethnicity or race doesn't matter. If what is in your heart. Plus most Jews rejected Christ. Not all but most of them did.

I honestly have no idea. I just practice loving everyone, including the ones who don’t deserve it. (Murderers, etc.) It’s just such a huge moral of mine. We are all God’s children, and He created each and every one of us. Gotta love them all.

Jewish people dont recognize Jesus as the messiah or savior that God has promised us, they are still waiting for their messiah to show up.. 🤗 so Jewish people dont accept any of the new testament as the Gods word. At least that's how I understand it.

I believe Judaism was the original belief of the Jewish people, it has a lot of theological similarities to Christians, the main difference in their beliefs is the role of Christ himself (probably why we identify as Christians)

The meaning of Christian is Follower of Christ, which is what Jesus instructs us to be.
