How to get snot outta his nose???

He sounds a little stuffy. He’s 4 days old today. Doesn’t seem to be bothering him but still. They said to not was a suction bulb on him yet. Plus it doesn’t fit even close to fitting in his nose 😂 so idk what there is to help. If I should try and get it out or. If there is a way to help him get it out himself?? Anyone?? Tips??

If it doesn’t gross you out, get a Nose Frida! Suction bulbs carry a ton of bacteria as you can’t clean them out and I LOVE my Nose Frida. It works by putting the end of it on the edge of their nose and then you suck the other end. There’s a sponge that stops the boogers and snot from going into your mouth. They’re about $10 and worth every penny in my opinion. You can get them pretty much anywhere including Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.

My doctors and nurses said not to stick a bulb syringe or anything else into the baby's nasal passages (as in, directly IN his nose) because this will irritate the tissue in there and worsen the problem for the baby. If you can see something in his nose, you can put the edge of a bulb syringe at the entrance of his nostril (not inside of it) and try to suck it out that way. If he's breathing through it and otherwise seems unbothered, I was told to just leave it be.
