Maternity leave?

How did you guys afford to go off work when you had a baby?

My state/country doesn’t do paid maternity leave. I’m trying to save, but was wondering if there’s any type of insurance I can get. I heard short term disability insurance but not sure how that works. I’m not currently pregnant but we are trying and have our trigger shot on Friday.

My husband will obviously take off work with vacation time, he would have about 7 weeks racked up and I will only have a week or two. But we still have bills we need to pay for. I’m not sure what to do.
