Copper IUD (non-hormonal)
So! I got the copper coil (non-hormonal IUD) fitted today! I was sick to my stomach from the anxiety after hearing some horror stories 😳
But it was absolutely fine! I took 2x ibuprofen an hour before my appointment and it didn’t hurt at all. I was actually surprised that I didn’t feel any discomfort - just some weird sensations that were over pretty quickly. The actual procedure took less than five minutes. I bled a little after, so wore a panty liner.
I went home and I noticed that cramps were starting. I took 2x paracetamol, used a hot water bottle and got comfy in my lounge wear. Spotting has stopped, but still feeling crampy which is to be expected. I’ve not felt around for the strings just yet, once everything has settled down I’ll do a check.
Overall I’ve had a really positive experience in getting it fitted. I’ll update again when I’ve had a period. My periods are usually quite light and pain-free, so it will be interesting to see if the IUD makes any changes!
