They typically don't do ultrasounds until after 9 weeks because of that reason. When I was pregnant with my first last year that's what I was told when I called to make my first appointment.

It’s a possibility you ovulated later then you thought so you’re earlier. I barely had a spec at 5 weeks with mine. If you have a positive test I would say you’re pregnant but still early early. Try again in a few weeks for another scan to accurately date.
